Tigers Finish 2012 With Split At Case Western
The Tigers headed north to Case Western Reserve University to finish the 2012 Wittenberg softball season, dropping the first game of a doubleheader 12-1 but recovering to take the second 4-3.

CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Tigers headed north to Case Western Reserve University to finish the 2012 Wittenberg softball season, dropping the first game of a doubleheader 12-1 but recovering to take the second 4-3.
Wittenberg put together four hits in game one, including one each from seniorJessica Snyder (Northfield, Ill./New Trier), freshman Carly Cribbs (Rochester, Mich./Rochester), sophomore Laura Rose (Riverside, Ohio/Stebbins) and seniorKatelyn Davis (Bethesda, Ohio/Union Local). Freshman Ashlee Wright (Kettering, Ohio/Fairmont) scored the team's only run in the second inning after being hit by a pitch.
In the circle, freshman Julia Williams (Glenview, Ill./Glenbrook South) took the loss in game one and senior Anna Kvartunas (Springfield, Va./Paul VI Catholic)contributed three innings of relief.
The Tiger offense got going in game two, posting eight hits and two two-run innings to earn the 4-3 victory. Sophomore Rachel Ross (Westerville, Ohio/South)allowed three runs in the first inning in the circle, but settled in to hold Case scoreless the rest of the way to move to 12-7 on the season.
After Case's three-run first, the Tigers had two-run innings in the third and the seventh.
In the third, Cribbs doubled a run home and came around on a single by seniorFallon White (Fairborn, Ohio/Northmont) followed by an error in center field.
In the seventh, it was Cribbs coming through again with the first home run of her career, a two-run knock to center to score herself and senior Brooklyn Cox (Dayton, Ohio/Vandalia Butler).
