Tigers Fall To Findlay, 7-2

FINDLAY, Ohio — The Wittenberg men's tennis team rounded out the indoor portion of the 2011-12 season with a 7-2 loss to NCAA Division II scholarship program Findlay.
The Tigers fell to 4-2, heading into a week off before their annual trip to Hilton Head, SC, for Spring Break. Findlay improved to 3-0.
Wittenberg picked up one win in the doubles competition and another in the singles. Findlay took the doubles matches at the first and third positions, but the Tigers rallied on the second court behind freshman Ian Streicker (South Lebanon, Ohio/Loveland) and sophomoreTyler Strong (Louisville, Ky./DuPont Manual) for a 9-8 victory.
Findlay won three comfortable straight-set singles victories, but the Tigers pushed back on the second, third and fourth courts. After freshman Sasha Topolyanskiy (Moscow, Russia) lost a tight straight-set match at No. 4, sophomore Sam Wilke (Cincinnati, Ohio/Turpin) fell in a three-setter at No. 3. Freshman Alexey Topolyanskiy (Moscow, Russia) broke through on the second court for a three-set victory.
