HIRAM, Ohio — After celebrating their large 14-person senior class less than 24 hours earlier, the Wittenberg Tigers posted a pair of convincing dual meet victories over North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) rival Hiram.
The men posted a win over the Terriers by a whopping 147-49 margin, while the Tiger women picked up a 147-84 decision. Wittenberg competitors either won or recorded the best time in every event.
On the men's side, freshman Ed Young (Shaker Heights, Ohio/University School), senior Matt Parker (Delaware, Ohio/Hayes) and freshman AJ Burt (Wyoming, Ohio/Wyoming) were both double-winners in individual events, as was senior Gus Appenbrink (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) in the two diving events.
For the women, juniors Jane Tsivitse (Wyoming, Ohio/Wyoming) and Ward McNulty (Glencoe, Ill./New Trier) were double-winners for the Tigers. In addition, freshman Melissa Hascher (Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson) combined a win in the 200-yard freestyle with the second leg of the winning 400-yard freestyle relay.
The Tigers have two dual meets remaining as they taper down toward next month's NCAC Championship meet in Canton. First up is a road trip to Centre College on Saturday, Jan. 21.
