Wittenberg Sweeps Bluffton to Get Back on Track
BLUFFTON, OH - After seeing their four-match winning streak snapped in a tough loss to Muskingum, Wittenberg Women's Volleyball hit the road determined to start a new streak against the Bluffton Beavers at the Sommer Center on Wednesday, Oct. 8.
The Tigers did exactly that. Everything clicked for Wittenberg in a dominant 25–13, 25–19, and 25–11 sweep. The Tigers controlled the match from start to finish and held Bluffton to a negative hitting percentage in all three sets while hitting .200 or better themselves in each frame.
Across the stat sheet, Wittenberg held a clear advantage — finishing with a 31–20 edge in kills, nine service aces to Bluffton's five, and an impressive 11–3 margin in total blocks.
Individually, Clare O'Malley (Avon, OH / St. Joseph's Academy) and Kait Colahan (Vermilion, OH / Vermilion) led the offense with eight kills apiece. Sam Fincham (Springfield, OH / Kenton Ridge) also had a good match, hitting an efficient .500 on the night.
Defensively, Ally White (Harrison, OH / Harrison) continued to lead the way with nine digs, and she made her presence felt at the service line as well with four aces.
With the win, Wittenberg improves to 10–7 on the season, while Bluffton drops to 10-13. The Tigers will turn their attention back to conference play in hopes of remaining unbeaten in North Coast Athletic Conference action when they visit Oberlin on Saturday, Oct. 11, for a 1 p.m. match.
