Women’s Cross Country Earns Runner-Up Finish at Calvin Invite
Grand Rapids, MI - Following an unexpectedly lengthy break from competition, Wittenberg Women's Cross Country tallied a second-place finish at the Calvin Invite on Saturday. The Tigers earned a team total of 63 points, while Saginaw Valley took first place, winning the meet by scoring 47 points.
The Tigers we led by senior Megan Keys (Dublin, OH/Jerome), who earned a fourth-place finish in the 6k race, recording a time 22:32.1. Fellow Tiger Maddi Clark (Mentor, OH/Mentor) finished fifth with a time of 22:43.3. Junior Emma Hawk (Marion, OH/River Valley) and Mackenzie Kelley (Altoona, PA/Altoona) also secured top-25 finishes for the Wittenberg. Hawk placed ninth with a time of 23:06.5 and Kelley finished 17th with a time of 23:37.9.
Rounding out Wittenberg's scorers, freshman Abigail Davison (Reynoldsburg, OH/Reynoldsburg) placed 45th with a time of 25:07.0, Alex Couch (Howard, OH/Mount Vernon) finished 54th with a time of 25:27.3 and Emily Zmuda (Columbus, OH/Hilliard Davidson) placed 57th with a time of 25:39.8.
Wittenberg returns to action next week, as the squad competes in the OWU Invitational, at 6 p.m. Friday, October 4, and the other half of the team heads to the Paul Short Run at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa.
