Women Track & Field Finishes Sixth in Steemer Showcase
Springfield, OH - Wittenberg Men's and Women's Track and Field hosted a whopping 22 teams in their second home meet of the indoor season, the Steemer Showcase. The Tiger women impressed as a team and individually as they finished in the top third of the field, in sixth place with a total of 40 points. Cedarville took first with 120 points, Indianapolis took second with 84, and NCAC rival, Ohio Wesleyan, totaled 78 points, good for third.
Cedarville and Indianapolis are both NCAA Division II scholarship programs.
The Tigers' lone first-place finish on the day came in the 500-meter dash. Senior Abbey Danne (Johnstown, OH / Big Walnut) took the top spot in a time of 1:18.78 to secure 10 of the Tigers' 40 points.
Wittenberg Top 5 Finishes
- The 4x200-meter relay team of My'Ana Yancey (Canal Winchester, OH / Graveport-Madison), Tymeerah De'Armond (Springfield, OH / Springfield), Jenna Delp (Canton, OH / GlenOak) and Morgan Hunter (Rockford, OH / Parkway) took third in 1:47.07.
- Tyra Jackson (Lorain, OH / Lorain) finished the 60-meter hurdles in fourth place with a time of 9.40 seconds.
- De'Armond took fourth in the 400-meter dash in under a minute with a time of 59.41 seconds.
- Jackson took fifth in the long jump with a leap of 5.13 meters.
- Rebekah Case (Mansfield, OH / Lucas) finished fourth in the pole vault, clearing a height of 3.45 meters.
Next up, the Tigers will travel to Huntington, West Virginia, to compete in the Marshall University Jewel City Invitational on Friday, February 6, and Saturday, February 7.
