Tigers Open Outdoor Season at Coastal Carolina Invitational
Hot off an impressive indoor seasons, the Tiger men's and women's track and field teams set their sights on outdoor successes, kicking off the outdoor season with a trip to Conway, S.C. in the Coastal Carolina Invitational.
CONWAY, SC - Hot off an impressive indoor seasons, the Tiger men's and women's track and field teams set their sights on outdoor successes, kicking off the outdoor season with a trip to Conway, S.C. in the Coastal Carolina Invitational. Surrounded by mostly Division I competition, the Tigers held their own in the unscored meet.
Freshman middle-distance runner Samantha Iden (Pickerington, Ohio/North) finished among the top of the Division III competitors in the 800 meters, clocking a 2:22.83. On the men's side, classmate Ryan Hagen (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island) enjoyed similar success, crossing in a time of 2:00.54.
An early season mark of 136' 10" in the javelin throw was the highlight for sophomore thrower Thomas McElwee (Herriman, Utah/Blue Valley). Meanwhile, junior multi-event specialist Tim Uher (Granville, Ohio/Pickerington North) got his first taste of the 110 high hurdles this season, taking a time of 16.08 seconds.
Another road trip awaits the Tigers on Saturday, March 21, when the Red and White travel to Memphis, Tenn. to the Rhodes Invitational.
