SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The Wittenberg Tigers pulled out a narrow 5-4 win over the College of Wooster thanks to a trio of three-set singles victories.
The win improved the Tigers to 3-10 on the season.
The match started with Wittenberg winning two of the three doubles matches, highlighted by a tiebreaker won by the No. 1 Tiger pairing of sophomore Rayika Karachiwalla (Pune, India/International Baccalaureate (NY)) and freshman Alivia Livesay (Tryon, NC/Polk County). Freshman Nora Jacobson (Easton, Md./Easton) and freshman Haley Jackson (Hilliard, Ohio/Bradley) teamed up to win at No. 3 as well.
In singles, the Tigers were extended to three sets at the first three positions before pulling out the victory. Karachiwalla claimed a three-setter at No. 1, freshman Carli Milano (Beavercreek, Ohio/Carroll) powered through a 6-0 third-set win at No. 2, and Livesay put the finishing touches on the team victory with a three-setter at No. 3.
The Tigers will continue a busy weekend with non-conference home matches on Saturday against Concordia and Allegheny.
