Tigers Wrap Up Fall Portion Of Season With 7-2 Loss At Oberlin
Wittenberg wins two matches by default, but Yeowomen hold serve everywhere else to secure the win.
OBERLIN, Ohio - The Wittenberg Tigers put the finishing touches on the fall portion of the 2015-16 season with a 7-2 loss to Oberlin.
While Oberlin and Wittenberg are North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) rivals, the match does not count toward league standings. The Tigers fell to 1-3, while Oberlin, ranked ninth in the region, improved to 1-1.
Oberlin took the first two matches of the doubles competition before the Tiger tandem of freshmen Nora Jacobson (Easton, Md./Easton) and Haley Jackson (Hilliard, Ohio/Bradley) picked up the win at No. 3 by default. In singles, the closest match took place at No. 2, where freshman Carli Milano (Beavercreek, Ohio/Carroll) dropped a 7-5, 6-3 decision. Wittenberg's point in singles play came at No. 6 as freshman Hannah Buroff (London, Ohio/London) won by default.
