Tigers Pick Up Key NCAC West Division Win Over Ohio Wesleyan

DELAWARE, Ohio — The North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) West Division presents many challenges. The Wittenberg women's tennis team overcame one of them with an 8-1 win at Ohio Wesleyan.
The win moved the Tigers to 9-9 overall and 1-2 in the NCAC West, with their losses coming to nationally ranked Denison and DePauw. Ohio Wesleyan is now 0-3 in the division, although the Battling Bishops are an impressive 8-2 outside of league play.
Wittenberg picked up plenty of momentum with a sweeps of the three doubles matches, including a hard-fought 9-7 decision at the No. 2 position by senior Anne Beauch (North Canton, Ohio/Massillon Jackson) and junior Kristin Wright (Akron, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit).
In the singles competition, the Tigers took five of the six matches, starting with sophomore Leah Ann Miller (Springfield, Ohio/Catholic Central) at the No. 1 spot. Freshman Georgia Bennett (Chillicothe, Ohio/Chillicothe) added a win at No. 3 singles, followed by Wright at No. 4, senior Maggie Stewart (Bay Village, Ohio/Magnificat) at No. 5 and senior Kacia Nolan (Indianapolis, Ind./Speedway) at No. 6.
