DAYTON, Ohio — The Wittenberg women's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to the University of Dayton, but not before the Tigers gave the NCAA Division I scholarship program some difficulties.
The loss dropped Wittenberg to 8-9 on the season.
Dayton started off well enough, claiming the doubles point with a trio of relatively narrow victories, including an 8-6 decision at the No. 1 position manned by sophomore Leah Ann Miller (Springfield, Ohio/Catholic Central) and freshman Georgia Bennett (Chillicothe, Ohio/Chillicothe).
The Flyers then sewed up the match with four wins in six singles matches. However, Miller picked up a point at the No. 1 position with an impressive 6-2, 6-2 victory. Senior Kacia Nolan (Indianapolis, Ind./Speedway) added a 6-4, 6-3 win at the No. 6 position.
