Tigers Cap Trip With 5-4 Win Over Findlay
After a week filled of struggles due to illness and injury, the Wittenberg women's tennis team capped its Spring Break week on a positive note with a 5-4 win over Findlay.
HILTON HEAD, SC — After a week filled of struggles due to illness and injury, the Wittenberg women's tennis team capped its Spring Break week on a positive note with a 5-4 win over Findlay.
Playing once again with a makeshift lineup, the Tigers rallied from an early deficit to win the match when sophomoreAndrea Gaietto (Tiffin, Ohio/Calvert) picked up the win at No. 5 singles, 6-2, 7-6 (7-4). The win moved Wittenberg to 4-6 overall on the 2011-12 season, including a mark of 3-2 on the Spring Break trip.
Sophomore Jessica Coggins (Geneva, Ohio/Geneva) picked up the other key singles point as she rallied to win a third-set tiebreaker at No. 4 singles. In addition, senior Kacia Nolan (Indianapolis, Ind./Speedway) was a winner at No. 3 singles, as was senior Alex Cummins (New Lebanon, Ohio/Dixie) at the No. 1 spot. Those two paired up to claim a key doubles point as well, winning 8-6 at the No. 1 position.
