Tigers Fare Well Against Top Competition At ITA Central Region Championships
The Wittenberg women's tennis team put the finishing touches on the 2011 fall season with a solid performance against some of the top competition in the entire nation at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Central Region championship tournament, hosted by Kalamazoo College.

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — The competition was split into two tournaments — the ITA Central Region Championship and the Kalamazoo Open. Both offered first-round consolation opportunities, guaranteeing all players at least two matches.
In the ITA Central Region singles bracket, sophomore Leah Ann Miller (Springfield, Ohio/Catholic Central) was a first-round winner and freshman Georgia Bennet (Chillicothe, Ohio/Chillicothe) won a match in the consolation. In doubles, Miller teamed with senior Anne Beauch (North Canton, Ohio/Massillon Jackson) to win a first-round match, while the team of senior Alex Cummins (Lebanon, Ohio/Dixie) and senior Maggie Stewart (Rocky River, Ohio/Magnificat) won a match in the back draw.
In the Kalamazoo Open draw, Beach, Stewart and junior Kristin Wright (Akron, Ohio/St. Vincent-St. Mary) were first-round winners. Junior Kacia Nolan (Indianapolis, Ind./Speedway) added a win in the consolation.
In doubles, Bennett teamed up with senior Jackie Stevens (Columbus, Ohio/Watterson) for a main draw victory, while Nolan and Wright were winners in the first round of the consolation bracket.
