Tigers Finish Fifth In NCAC Tournament With Win Over Ohio Wesleyan
The Wittenberg Tigers put the finishing touches on a record-breaking 2010-11 season with a 5-3 win over Ohio Wesleyan.
OBERLIN, Ohio — The Wittenberg Tigers put the finishing touches on a record-breaking 2010-11 season with a 5-3 win over Ohio Wesleyan to take fifth place in the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Tournament.
The win moved the Tigers to 19-6 overall on the 2010-11 season. The program's previous best for wins in a season was 15, achieved three times.
After beating the Battling Bishops 6-3 during the regular season, the Tigers fell behind early with two losses in the three doubles matches. Seniors Rachel Bundy (North Canton, Ohio/Hoover) andJayne Miely (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) came up big with an 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles.
Bundy and Miely were among four Tigers who won matches in the singles competition to secure the victory. In addition, freshman Leah Ann Miller (Springfield, Ohio/Catholic Central) was a winner at No. 1 singles and sophomoreKristin Wright (Akron, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) was a winner at No. 6 singles.
