Tigers Bounce 'Berg, Complete Fall Dual Match Slate

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio — The Wittenberg women's tennis team made quick work of visiting Heidelberg despite temperatures in the high 50s and the threat of rain on Saturday, winning 8-1 to move to 4-0 on the season. The fall dual match season is now complete, though several Tigers remain at the ITA Regional Championships in St. Louis.
In Springfield, the Tigers dropped their only matchup in the doubles portion, going on to sweep singles and claim the victory.
In doubles, junior Maggie Stewart (Bay Village, Ohio/Magnificat) and juniorJackie Stevens (Columbus, Ohio/Watterson) teamed up to win 8-2 at No. 1, while freshman Jessica Coggins (Geneva, Ohio/Geneva) and sophomore Lisa Berman (Powell, Ohio/Olentangy Liberty) took home a win in No. 3.
In the singles slate, Stevens went to a tiebreaker with her No. 1-opponent, where she won 11-9 to take the match. Stewart followed with a win at No. 2, while sophomore Kristin Wright (Akron, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) allowed her opponent at No. 3 just one set. Junior Kacia Nolan (Speedway, Ind./Speedway) won 6-3, 6-0 at No. 4, and Coggins and freshman Sarah Ziska (Bay Village, Ohio/Lake Ridge Academy) were winners at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively.
