Tigers Round Out Fall Season With Split At St. Joseph's
The Wittenberg Tigers started strong but were unable to finish the day off, settling for a split with Calumet and host St. Joseph's (Ind.).
RENSSELAER, Ind. - The Wittenberg Tigers started strong but were unable to finish the day off, settling for a split with Calumet and host St. Joseph's (Ind.).
Against Calumet, the Tigers took all three doubles matches by comfortable margins before sweeping the singles without dropping a set. Eight different players saw action for Wittenberg, including freshmen Kristin Wright (Akron, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) and Lisa Berman (Powell, Ohio/Olentangy Liberty) at the No. 5 and 6 singles positions.
Against St. Joseph's, the Tigers got off a solid start, taking two of three doubles courts. Only sophomores Alexandra Cummins (New Lebanon, Ohio/Dixie) andJackie Stevens (Columbus, Ohio/Watterson) managed singles wins, however, as they were victors at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively. Both were also doubles winners, as Stevens teamed with junior Jayne Miely (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) at No. 2 and Cummins paired with sophomore Maggie Stewart (Bay Village, Ohio/Magnificat) at No. 3.
