Day 2 At NCAC Yields Strong Performances For Tigers

GRANVILLE, Ohio – The Wittenberg men's and women's swimming and diving teams wrapped up the first full day at the 2015 North Coast Athletic Conference Championship Meet with some stellar performances under their belts.

The men's 400 medley relay team of junior Stephen Stuthers (Pittsburgh, Pa./Central Catholic), senior A.J. Burt (Wyoming, Ohio/Wyoming), senior James Dumstorf(Louisville, Ky./St. Xavier) and senior Jared Crum (Galveston, Ind./Lewis Cass)headlined the day's activities with a new school record, turning in a time of 3:27.26 to finish fifth in the event. They broke a 14-year old record of 3:27.58 held by Aaron Edsall, Jeremy Lazarus, Steve Rader and Bob Rafferty, originally set in 2001.

The women's 400 medley relay similarly took fifth place thanks to strong swims by sophomoreAmy Schulz (Waterloo, Ill./Waterloo), junior Madeline Kraft (Cape Elizabeth, Maine/Cape Elizabeth), freshman Julia Valentine (Columbus, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) and junior Dani Lacy (Louisville, Ky./Louisville Collegiate School), who combined for a time of 3:59.66.

Lacy also contributed to a sixth-place finish for the 200 freestyle relay team that also included senior Allie Fisher (Tinley, Ill./Victor J. Andrew), senior Logan Griffith (Pickerington, Ohio/North) and sophomore Emily Faas (Mason, Ohio/Mason). The men's 200 free relay roster was the same as the 400 medley crew, and endeavored for a sixth-place finish to match the women.

Lacy went on to post an 11^th-place finish in the 50 freestyle on a time of 24.51. Schulz tacked on a finish of 14^th in the 200 individual medley, and freshman Nicole McCollum (Fort Myers, Fla./Estero) placed 18^th in the women's 500 freestyle.

Wittenberg's men finished the day in eighth place among 10 teams, while the women were fifth among nine. The Tigers return to the waves tomorrow in Day Three of the NCAC Championship Meet.
