Springfield, Ohio – For the third time in her stellar four-year collegiate swimming career, Wittenberg University senior Molly Gustafson (West Hartford, Conn./Conard) has earned a spot in the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships.
Gustafson posted the 19th-fastest time in all of NCAA Division III in the 100-yard breaststroke to punch her ticket to the national championship meet, scheduled for March 19-22 at IUPUI Natatorium in Indianapolis, Ind. She turned in a time of 1:04.84 en route to a third-place finish in the race on Day 1 of the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) championship meet on Thursday, Feb. 13.
Gustafson also competed in the national event in 2011 after she qualified as an individual and in 2012 when she earned a spot as a member of the 200-yard medley relay. She earned All-America honors in the 100-yard breaststroke in 2011 and Gustafson matched the feat in 2012 in the 200-yard medley relay along with Sarah Wilson, Keaton Hannon and Ward McNulty.
“I am so proud of Molly and all that she has accomplished during her Wittenberg career,” said Head Coach Natalie Koukis. “I am looking forward to spending a couple more weeks with her in the HPER Center Natatorium, and I am confident she will work hard to finish her career in the best way possible.”
