INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — On Day 3 of the 2012 NCAA Division III Women's Swimming and Diving Championships, the Wittenberg Tigers had a pair of individuals in action. Sophomore Molly Gustafson (West Hartford, Conn./Conard) finished 23rd in the 100-yard breaststroke and sophomore Sarah Wilson (Centennial, Colo./Arapahoe) finished 30th in the 100-yard backstroke.
Sarah Wilson
Gustafson earned All-America honors in the 100-yard breaststroke a year ago, but she was unable to match her school record time of a year ago in bowing out in the prelims in 2012. Her time of 1:06.30 put Gustafson in 23rd place, 0.83 out of the consolation final and 1.88 out of the championship final.
Wilson turned in a time of 58.13, well off her seed time of 57.32, in the 100-yard backstroke. Wilson was making her first-ever appearance in the national championships as an individual.
Junior Ward McNulty (Glencoe, Ill./New Trier) and senior Keaton Hannon (Peachtree City, Ga./McIntosh) returned to the pool with Wilson and Gustafson on the final day of the meet. Already honorable mention All-Americans after their 13th place finish in the 200-yard medley relay on Day 1, the quartet took to the pool for a final time in the 400-yard freestyle relay, finishing 26th.
