Wittenberg Women’s Soccer Welcomes Six Players In 2025 Recruiting Class
Springfield, OH – Wittenberg University's women’s soccer team will welcome six new players as part of its 2025 recruiting class. The new recruits bolster an already strong roster. The Tigers, who posted records of 6-5-5 overall and 3-2-2 in the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) a year ago, will open the 2025 season with a trip to Marietta where they will take on the host Pioneers on August 29 and Carnegie Mellon on August 30.
Wittenberg Women’s Soccer New Faces
Sydney Schwade is a native of Lewis Center, Ohio and a 2025 graduate of Olentangy Orange High School. Off the field, Sydney was part of the National Honors Society, National Art Honors Society, and nominated for all Girls' Buckeye State. On the field, Schwade was awarded first-team All-OCC Central, second-team All-Central District, and the team's Most Valuable Defender in the program for 2024 season. Sydney was a captain her senior year and was part of an Ohio Premier team that was ECNL National playoffs champions league 2023 qualifiers and ECNL Regional League central region finalists in 2024. Sydney is the daughter of Joe and Tanya Schwade and has a sister, Hailey.
Olivia Gillum, from Hamilton, Ohio, graduates this year from Ross Senior High School with High Honor Roll, as Student Council Class President and a member of National Honor Society, DECA, Hope Squad, and as a Student-Athlete Leadership Team where she attended Anthony Munoz Leadership Conference. Additionally, she was invited to the SWOC Leadership Conference and the West Point Society of Greater Cincinnati Leadership Seminar. Olivia also created True Strength and led the projects for this program. On the field Gillum was a four-year varsity letterwinner and a captain her junior and senior years. She led the Rams to a district championship and a state semifinal. As a Ram, Olivia was first-team All-SWOC, second-team All-SWBL, first-team All-SWBL, first-team All-Star Cincinnati Enquirer Soccer Player and All-City.
Olivia was part of a TFA team that went 7-1-1 in E64 and advanced to the national quarterFinals. Additionally, the team was 2024 State Cup finalists. Olivia is the daughter of Rob and Angie Gillum, and she has two sisters, Elaina and Cassie.
Abby Borland from Dayton, Ohio, is a graduate of Fairmont High School, where she was a member of the National Honor Society and Honor Roll. On the field, Abby led the Firebirds as a captain her junior and senior years and was a GWOC Honorable Mention selection. Abby was part of an Ohio Galaxies team that won back-to-back state championships, was USYS Midwest Regional runner-up, and qualified for the ECNL National playoffs Champions League in 2024. Abby is the daughter of Wittenberg Alumnus, Mark, and Beth Borland and has one brother, George, and a sister, Adeline.
Elizabeth “Biz” Stallard, a Troy, Ohio native, graduates from Tippecanoe High School on the Honor Roll, Principals List, and as a Scholar-Athlete. On the field, Biz was awarded second-team all-conference and third-team all-area. Biz was part of an Ohio Galaxies team that won back-to-back state championships, was USYS Midwest Regional runner-up, and qualifiers for the ECNL National playoffs champions league in 2024. Biz is the daughter of John and Cheryl Stallard, and she has one brother, Alex, and two sisters, Makayla and Emma.
Delaney Burdine of Fairfield, Ohio, joins the Tigers from Fairfield High School. On the field, Delaney was a two-time second-team All-GMC selection, a first-team All-GMC honoree, two-time team Defensive Player of the Year, and a three-time All-Academic Team member. Delaney is a defender for KHA North where she helped her team to a 2024 State Cup Final. Delaney is the daughter of Kenny and Danielle Burdine, and she has a brother, Wyatt.
Kaitlyn Miller, from Columbia Station, Ohio, graduates this year from Columbia Local High School as No. 1 in her class and a three-sport athlete competing in soccer, basketball, and softball. Kaitlyn was a member of the National Honor Society, a three-time Outstanding Academic Achievement Award winner, four-year Honor Roll member, a four-year Scholar Athlete for three sports and received the Governors Merit Scholarship.
On the field, Kaitlyn was a captain her senior year. She led the Raiders to a conference championship and a district final. Kaitlyn was Player of the Year for Lorain County Division Five, a member of the All-Ohio Team, first-team All-Greater Cleveland, first-team All-County 2024, first-team Lorain County League, second-team All-Greater Cleveland Soccer, Lorain County Rising Star in 2021 and 2022, All-Lorain County Honorable Mention, Raider Athletic Award, and played in the All-Star Game her senior year. In 2023, the Raiders did not have a girls soccer team, so Kaitlyn played in goal for the boys' team and was a standout player for them. As a goalkeeper, she was awarded first-team Lorain County Soccer Coaches Association and second-team Lorain County League. Kaitlyn was the Team MVP in 2023 and Lead LC8 Conference in saves.
Kaitlyn was part of a North FC team that was National Cup Champions and State Cup Champions in 2024. Kaitlyn is the daughter of Bill and Judy Miller and has three sisters Lexi, Natalie, and Brooke.
