Second-Half Goal Secures Win Over Otterbein

Springfield, OH - Wittenberg women's soccer battled their way to a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Otterbein at Edwards-Maurer Field on Tuesday, Sept. 23. The match was a grind from start to finish, with both teams evenly matched and neither giving much away.

The opening half was a stalemate, as each side created a handful of opportunities but couldn't break through. Wittenberg and Otterbein both recorded a total of four shots in the first half, with the defenses standing tall to keep the game scoreless heading into the second half.

Momentum swung back and fourth in the second half, with Otterbein beginning to press forward and outshooting the Tigers by three. With that, Wittenberg still stayed disciplined and waited for their moment. That came in the 76th minute, when Reagan Williams (Beavercreek, OH / Beavercreek) buried the goal off a perfectly timed assist by Sydney Schwade (Lewis Center, OH / Olentangy Orange). 

From there, the Tigers had to hold their ground against Otterbein's late push. While both teams showed consistency throughout the match, it was Wittenberg who capitalized on their key chance that sealed the win.
