MARIETTA, OH – Wittenberg women's soccer opened the 2025 season on the road at Marietta College, on Friday, Aug. 29, at Marietta Field.
Neither team could find the back of the net as the game ended in a 0-0 draw. Wittenberg had 12 shots, six on goal, and two corner kicks. Wittenberg goalkeeper had four saves and 10 shots faced.
Marietta had 10 shots, four on goal, three corner kicks, and one yellow card. Their goalkeeper registered six saves and 12 shots faced. Each team had seven fouls on the night.
Wittenberg leads the series against Marietta, 8-1-1. The two teams last played in 1996, with the Tigers capturing the 3-0 win.
Last season, Wittenberg finished 6-6-5 overall and fourth in the conference (3-2-2) to make the NCAC Tournament, where they defeated Denison in the semifinals before falling to DePauw in the championship game.
Led by ninth-year head coach Katie Robinson, the Tigers will play Carnegie Mellon on Saturday, Aug. 30, at Marietta College, at 3:30 p.m., then travel to Ohio Northern on Wednesday, Sept. 3, at 7 p.m.
