Wittenberg Women’s Soccer Welcomes Eight Players In 2024 Recruiting Class
Springfield, OH – Coming off a 2023 season highlighted by a regular season North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) title, Wittenberg University’s women’s soccer team will welcome eight new players as part of its 2024 recruiting class.
The new recruits bolster an already strong roster. The Tigers, who posted records of 7-7-5 overall and 5-1-1 in the NCAC a year ago, will open the 2024 season with a home game against Cedarvile at 7 p.m. Friday, August 30.
Wittenberg Women’s Soccer New Faces
Sarah Deaton is a native from Monroe, Ohio. She is graduating from Monroe High School as an Honor Roll student and a scholar-athlete award-winner. On the field, Deaton was a three-time first Team all-conference honoree and a two-time All-Miami Valley Area honoree, in addition to earning a pair of all-district awards and first-team all-region and first-team all-state as a senior. Sarah was a member of teams that made the state final four in 2020 and won a district title in 2022.
Sarah is a forward who plays club soccer for Kings Hammer North. She helped her team qualify for the National League Conference Playoffs and State Cup Regional Tournament. Sarah is the daughter of Stacey Williams and Curtis Deaton and has three brothers, Collin, Nolan, and Bennett.
Kylie Hornbeck is from South Lebanon, Ohio. She is graduating from Kings High School with Summa Cum Laude academic honors after receiving a conference academic award in each of the last four years. On the field, Kylie was a two-time second-team all-conference selection.
Kylie is a midfielder for Kings Hammer North. She has served as a team captain and helped her team qualify for the National League Conference Playoffs and State Cup Regional Tournament. Kylie is the daughter of Jason and Melissa Hornbeck and has a brother, Jaden.
Paige Aloi is from Galena, Ohio. She is graduating from Olentangy Berlin High School with as a member of the National Honors Society. On the field, Paige earned first-team all-conference and second-team All-Central District awards.
Paige is a defender for Ohio Premier and is a member of team that plays in the ECNL Regional League. She is the daughter of Daniel and Michelle Aloi and has a sister, Payton.
Caroline Stupp is from Waynesville, Ohio. She is graduating from Waynesville High School with Summa Cum Laude academic honors. On the field, Caroline was named first-team all-conference and second-team All-Dayton Area. Caroline was member of a Waynesville team that finished as Division II state runner-up and also won a Division III state title, in addition to four district titles.
Caroline is a midfielder for FC Dayton, which competes in the ECNL Regional League. She was named to the Great River ECNL All-Region League Team. Caroline is the daughter of Daniel and Anne Stupp and has two brothers, Evan and Andrew.
Emma Rhodis is from Hamilton, Ohio. She is graduating from Stephen T. Badin High School as a member of the Honor Roll and after receiving an academic all-district award. On the field, Emma earned two first-team al-conference awards and a second-team all-conference designation. Emma helped the Rams reach the district championship game three times.
Emma is a midfielder for Ohio Galaxies, which competes in the ECNL Regional League. In her club soccer career, Emma helped her team to qualify for the National League Championship Tournament four times. Emma is the daughter of Craig and Stacey Rhodis and has two sisters, Lauren and Audrey, and two brothers, Luke and Noah.
Emma Barnhart is from Westerville, Ohio. She is graduating from Olentangy Orange High School with Summa Cum Laude academic honors and an Honors Diploma. She has been inducted into the National Honors Society and the National Art Honors Society. On the field, Emma earned scholar-athlete honors all four years, and she received Most Improved Player in 2022 and the Pioneer Award in 2023. Her team won the conference title, district title, and regional title in 2022, and advanced to the district title game in 2023.
Emma is a defender who plays for Ohio Premier, which competes in the ECNL Regional League. Emma is the daughter of Nathan and Sara Barnhart and has a brother, Jake.
Avery Ausman is from Bethel, Ohio. She is graduating from Bethel-Tate High School in the Top 5% in her class after receiving the Science Seal, a conference scholar-athlete award, the Citizenship Award, and Principals List recognition. On the field, Avery helped her team to a league title. She earned first-team all-conference and Player of the Year honors, in addition to first-team all-district honors. She concluded her career as Bethel-Tate’s all-time leading scorer.
Avery is a midfielder for Cincy SC. Avery is the daughter of Aaron and Anna Ausman and has three brothers, Aiden, Arion, and Archer.
Caroline Thomas is from Perrysburg, Ohio, and she joins the program as a transfer student. Caroline graduated from Perrysburg High School with honors after earning two league academic awards. On the field, Paige earned second-team all-league and second-team all-district awards.
Caroline is a forward who played for Pacesetters SC in the ECNL Regional League. With Pacesetters, Caroline was a U.S. Club State champion, a U.S. Club national semifinalist, and her team qualified for the ECNL Regional League Playoffs. Caroline is the daughter of Evan and Holly Thomas and has a brother, Evan.
