Wittenberg Women's Soccer Standout Amanda Farrell Earns Coaches Association Scholar All-America Honors
Wittenberg University women's soccer standout Amanda Farrell, class of 2008 from Loveland, Ohio, has been recognized for the combination of her athletic and academic accomplishments with second-team National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas Scholar All-America College Division honors.

Springfield, Ohio — Wittenberg University women's soccer standout Amanda Farrell, class of 2008 from Loveland, Ohio, has been recognized for the combination of her athletic and academic accomplishments with second-team National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas Scholar All-America College Division honors.
This is Farrell's first national academic award after earning all-district awards in CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America voting each of the last two years. A three-year starter and four-year letterwinner at the midfield position for the Tigers, Farrell put together another outstanding season for the nationally ranked Tigers in 2007. After leading Wittenberg in scoring in 2006, Farrell topped the team again in 2007 with six goals, four assists and 16 total points. For the second straight year, she finished with three game-winning goals.
Farrell carries a 3.8 grade point average while majoring in biology. In addition to her dedication to the women's soccer program and her exemplary class work, Farrell is active in numerous campus clubs and organizations, including the Pre-Health Club, the American Institute of Biological Sciences and Athletes for Christ.
Wittenberg put together the best season in school history in 2007, finishing 18-3-3 overall and 6-0-2 in the NCAC and capturing both the regular season and tournament conference crowns. The Tigers advanced to their second straight NCAA Division III Tournament and reached the Round of 16 before a 1-0 loss to Ithaca on Nov. 17.
