Tigers Drop NCAC Match-Up With DePauw
Springfield, OH – Wittenberg Women's Lacrosse dropped a 14–8 decision to visiting DePauw University in North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) action on Tuesday, April 7, at Edwards-Maurer Field. With the result, the Tigers move to 0–2 in conference play and 4-8 overall on the 2026 season.
DePauw struck first with a pair of early goals, but Wittenberg responded to stay within reach in the opening quarter. Aubrey Stager (Saline, MI / Saline) got the Tigers on the board midway through the period, and Maren Raymond (Louisville, KY / Ballard) followed with a free-position goal to even the score at 2–2.
The visiting Tigers regained momentum in the second quarter, outscoring Wittenberg 4-1 to take a 6-3 advantage into the half. DePauw continued to build on that lead in the third quarter, adding four more goals to extend its margin to 10-3.
Wittenberg mounted a strong push in the fourth quarter, scoring five goals over the final 15 minutes. Essence Wyse (Lewis Center, OH / Olentangy) netted a pair of unassisted goals, while Jarya Hassell (Bellbrook, OH / Bellbrook) added a goal and two assists to fuel the late rally. Stager and Raymond each finished with multiple goals, and Sophia Meek (Lewis Center, OH / Olentangy Orange) contributed an assist during the surge.
Despite the late offensive momentum, DePauw answered with timely goals to preserve the lead and secure the conference victory.
In the goal, Makenna Ricketts (Chardon, OH / Chardon) recorded eight saves in 60 minutes of work. Defensively, Haley Pitman (Liberty Township, OH / Ursuline Academy) led the Tigers with two caused turnovers as Wittenberg worked to slow DePauw's transition game.
