Women’s lacrosse falls to Kenyon at Home, 19-5
SPRINGFIELD, OH – In the final home game of the season, Wittenberg Women's Lacrosse fell to Kenyon, 19-5, in a North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) matchup Tuesday night, April 22, at Edwards-Maurer Field, part of the Health, Wellness & Athletics Complex.
The Owls came out strong, scoring eight goals in the first quarter and five more in the second to take a 13-2 lead after two were in the books. They scored six more in the second half to secure the victory. Witt scored one goal in each of the first three quarters and two more in the fourth.
With the loss, the Tigers fall to 4-10 overall and 0-5 in the NCAC, while Kenyon improves to 6-8 overall and 2-3 in the conference.
Team Leaders
- Hannah Peterson (Cedarville, OH / Cedarville), Jarya Hassell (Bellbrook, OH / Bellbrook), Aubrey Stager (Saline, MI / Saline), Sophia Meek (Lewis Center, OH / Olentangy Orange), and Essence Wyse (Lewis Center, OH / Olentangy) each scored for the Tigers.
- Stager led the team in ground balls with six. Stager and Wyse each had four shots on the night.
- Sidney Sheridan (Columbus, OH / Bishop Hartley) and Gabrielle Weckerly (Delaware, OH / Hayes) shared time in the goal, with each tallying three saves on the night.
Team Comparison
- Totals for the Tigers included 16 shots, nine on goal, 19 ground balls, seven draw controls, and seven caused turnovers. They were three-for-six in free-position shots.
- Kenyon tallied 34 shots, 25 on goal, 37 ground balls, 20 draw controls, and 12 caused turnovers. The Owls were five-for-nine in free-position shots and their goalies tallied four saves.

Wittenberg will travel to Denison for its final match of the season on Saturday, April 26. The NCAC battle begins at noon.
