Women's Lacrosse Earns IWLCA Academic Honors
Not only was Wittenberg's Women's Lacrosse team named an Academic Honor Squad by Zag Sports, senior Becca Joseph, and junior Victoria Zysik were also named to IWLCA's academic honor roll.
Springfield, Ohio - The IWLCA honored student-athletes from 149 different institutions with inclusion in the 2017 IWLCA Zag Sports Division III Academic Honor Roll. In order to be eligible for this honor, student-athletes must be a junior, senior, or graduate student and earn a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or greater. Not only was Wittenberg's Women's Lacrosse team named an Academic Honor Squad by Zag Sports, senior Becca Joseph, and junior Victoria Zysik were also named to IWLCA's academic honor roll. This is the fourth consecutive season the Tigers have earned the Zag Sports Academic Honor Squad title.
The Toledo, Ohio native majoring in Finance, Joseph concludes a successful career in the red and white, earning the IWLCA's academic honor roll award. After landing on the All-NCAC First Team list her sophomore and junior seasons with the Tigers. Joseph took All-NCAC Second Team honors after scoring 21 goals with 23 assists for 5.5 points per game over her final NCAC season. In her four seasons with the Tigers, Joseph played in all 67 of Wittenberg's matches, not missing a start beginning her sophomore season.
An attacker/midfielder out of Perrysburg, Ohio, Zysik a Biochemistry/Molecular Biology major earns IWLCA's academic honor roll award in her first year of eligibility. Coming off an All-NCAC season, Zysik was listed as an Honorable Mention following the season with 16 goals and four assists for 2.9 ppg. Victoria appeared in all 17 games for the Tigers for her third consecutive season.
The women's lacrosse team closed out the season with a final record of 11-7, including 5-3 in NCAC play. The Tigers season came to an end after a tough loss to Denison in the semifinals of the NCAC Tournament. With the departure of three seniors in the Class of 2017, the Tigers will have three new seniors to take their place, along with five incoming juniors.
