Tigers Finish 10th In Rain-Shortened Washington U. Spring Invitational
CRESCENT, MO - Wittenberg Women's Golf turned in a 10th-place finish out of 15 teams entered in the Washington University Spring Invitational. Played at Crescent Farms Golf Club in Crescent, Missouri, the invitational was played in cold, raw conditions on Saturday, but the final round was cancelled due to inclement weather on Sunday.
The course was playing as a par-71 at 5,444 yards. Six of the teams entered in the competition are ranked in the top-50 nationally.
Wittenberg carded a team total of 41-over-par in the opening round to stand in 10th place. Wisconsin-Stout and Grinnell finished the opening round tied at 14-over-par, and the two teams wound up sharing the title, followed by Illinois Wesleyan in third place, three strokes off the lead, Washington University in fourth, five strokes out, and Illinois Wesleyan's B team in fifth place, nine strokes off the pace.
Individually, Wittenberg was led by Izzy Selby (Cincinnati, OH / Seton), who carded a tremendous round of five-over-par 76 to finish 16th. Addie Yarbrough (Dublin, OH / Jerome) was next for the Tigers at 10-over-par to finish 45th.
Anna Sinclair shot 83 to finish 52nd, Hillary Humbaugh (Haubstadt, IN / Gibson Southern) posted an 85 to finish 66th, and Taylor Rausch (Mechanicsburg, OH / Mechanicsburg) rounded out the team's starting lineup with a 90 to place 81st. Josie Adamson (Cincinnati, OH / Oak Hills) was entered as an individual, and she carded an 84 to place 61st in the individual standings.
