Tigers Picked To Finish Second In NCAC Preseason Poll
The Wittenberg women's basketball team was picked up to finish second in a preseason poll of North Coast Athletic Conference coaches.
Cleveland, Ohio - Wittenberg University women's basketball was picked to finish second in a North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) preseason poll, based on votes submitted by league coaches. Ohio Wesleyan was chosen as the favorite with six first-place votes and 61 total points, followed by the Tigers with two first-place votes and 58 total points, DePauw (47), Oberlin (39), and Denison (39) to round out the top five.
Wittenberg is coming off a 2022-23 season that ended with records of 21-5 overall and 13-1 in the NCAC, good for first place in the regular season standings. The Tigers return their entire starting lineup, in addition to a host of other players who saw action off the bench a year ago. The returning starters are juniors Taryn Cash (Cincinnati, Ohio/Princeton), Kelsey Ragan (Whitehouse, Ohio/Anthony Wayne), and Jazmyn Gaines-Burns (Bladensburg, Maryland/Elizabeth Seton) and seniors Evie Wolshire (Lancaster, Ohio/Fairfield Union) and Jade Simpson (Edgewood, Kentucky/Holy Cross).
Wittenberg kicks off the 2023-24 season with a home game against Ohio Northern at 7 p.m. Friday, November 10. After a week off, the Tigers will hit the road for the first time to play in the Trine Cameron Classic, where they will take on Albion and Trine on November 18-19.
