Bio

Ashley Goodwin was elevated to the position of head coach of Wittenberg University's softball program in 2023 after joining the program as an assistant coach in 2019. She became the 10th head coach in the history of the program, succeeding Shannon Schaub, who led the program for four seasons.

"We are excited about the promotion of Ashley to the head coaching position of our softball program. Ashley has great connections and is a respected coach in the softball community and within our athletic department," Agler said. "With Ashley, we feel we can build an extremely comfortable softball program within the conference and region."

As an assistant with the Tigers, Goodwin built a knowledge of the program and university foundations to carry the Tigers into the future. Purdy-Goodwin possesses high-level playing experience as a four-year standout at The Ohio State University. While with the Buckeyes, Goodwin was a three-year starter on the infield, earning two Gold Glove awards, and she served as a team captain as a senior.

In her first season at the helm, Wittenberg posted records of 21-21 overall and 7-7 in the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC), good for fourth place in the regular season standings and a berth in the NCAC Tournament. After the season, three players earned All-NCAC awards, five Tigers earned Academic All-District awards, and Meghan McCans was recognized for her performance with third-team All-Region honors. The Tigers advanced to the NCAC Tournament as the No. 4 seed for a second straight year in 2025 en route to a 27-14 overall record, and then the Tigers broke through in 2026 for a share of the NCAC regular season title. The Tigers finished the season 27-17 overall after losing in the NCAC Tournament championship game to Denison.

Outside of Wittenberg, the California native, was the Director of Fastpitch Softball with Pauer Sports Performance, managing and developing their 8U through 18U programs. With Pauer Softball, Goodwin manages and organizes program practices for all coaches at each level and coordinates parent and coach communications. In her role with Pauer, Goodwin has helped promote academic success and personal growth to multiple athlete, guiding them to both on and off field successes while helping them continue their athletic career at the collegiate level.
