Six Tigers Named to All-NCAC Softball Teams
CLEVELAND, OH – The North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) announced the 2025 All-NCAC softball teams today. Six Tigers were selected over the three teams – one was first-team, three were second-team, and two more received third-team honors.
Meghan McCans (Arcanum, OH / Arcanum) was the lone Tiger selected for first-team honors, while Gada Bryant (Westville, IL / Bismark Henning), Julia Burch (Dublin, OH / Dublin Jerome) and Julie Hall (Powell, OH / Bishop Watterson) were named second-team. Rebekah Giel (Amelia, OH / West Clermont) and Hanna Ecker (Heath, OH / Heath) were named to the third team.
The Tigers had a successful 2025 season, winning 10 of their first 12 games to finish at 27-14 overall. They were 8-6 in the NCAC for a fourth-place finish that led to a berth in the conference tournament.
In the first round of the conference tournament, Wittenberg, the No. 4 seed, upset No. 1 seed and host Denison before falling to DePauw. The Tigers then had to face Denison a second time and fell one win short of the tournament game after losing to the Big Red. At the conclusion of the season, Wittenberg led the NCAC in stolen bases as a team and in the circle, the Tiger pitching staff boasted the lowest ERA and opponent batting average in the conference.
In conference play, McCans recorded 14 hits and six RBIs with a batting average of .359. She also stole 13 bases to lead the NCAC. Bryant logged eight hits and seven RBI while batting .348 and Burch had a batting average of .340, recording 16 hits and driving in nine. Hall earned her second-team honors by having a conference record of 4-2, with two of those wins being complete game shutouts. She also had an ERA of 2.14. Giel recorded 15 hits, nine RBI, and 10 stolen bases while batting .341 on the season. Ecker batted .486, logging 18 hits and 14 RBI in conference play.
