SPRINGFIELD, OH — After capturing a share of the Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League (MCVL) regular season title, Wittenberg Men's Volleyball will host the 2026 MCVL Tournament in Pam Evans Smith Arena on Friday, April 10, and Saturday, April 11.
The MCVL regular season title is Wittenberg's third in the last four years after the Tigers shared the 2023 crown with both Baldwin Wallace and Mount Union and claimed the 2024 championship with an unblemished 9-0 record. The Tigers, who qualified for the MCVL Tournament for a fourth consecutive season, are hosting the MCVL Tournament for the second time.
Wittenberg, which finished the regular season with a 19-5 overall record, is the No. 1 seed in the 2026 MCVL Tournament, with regular season co-champion Trine the second seed. Both teams finished with records of 8-1 in league play, but the Tigers earned hosting rights by virtue of a 3-0 win over the Thunder on February 20. Calvin is the No. 3 seed after finishing 7-2 and Baldwin Wallace is the No. 4 seed with a 6-3 regular season league record.
To open the 2026 MCVL Tournament, Calvin will take on Trine in the first semifinal match at 4 p.m. on Friday, April 10. Wittenberg will then face Baldwin Wallace at 7 p.m. The winners of the semifinal games will face off in the tournament championship game at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 11. The tournament champion will earn the MCVL's automatic bid to the 2026 NCAA Division III Tournament.
In 2023, third-seeded Wittenberg lost in the MCVL Tournament semifinals to Baldwin Wallace by a 3-1 score in a match played at Mount Union. In 2024, the host and top-seeded Tigers defeated Mount Union in the semifinals before losing 3-1 to Trine in the tournament championship match. And last year, Wittenberg dropped a 3-1 decision to Baldwin Wallace in another match played at Moun Union.
