Four Tigers Earn 2025 All-MCVL Honors; Adam Blair Named Rookie of the Year
| 2025 MCVL All-League Teams release |
Led by Rookie of the Year Adam Blair (West Chester, OH / Lakota West), a total of four Wittenberg men's volleyball student-athletes earned All-Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League (MCVL) recognition for the 2025 season.
In addition to claiming special honors as the league's top newcomer, Blair, a freshman middle blocker, also picked up first-team All-MCVL honors. He was joined on the league's 2025 honor roll by junior outside hitters Michael Yurk (Indianapolis, Ind./Bishop Chatard) and Eli Halverson (Hamilton, Ohio/Badin) with second-team All-MCVL honors, and junior libero Jake Downs (Cincinnati, OH / Milford) with honorable mention All-MCVL recognition.
Blair led the Tigers and the entire MCVL in hitting percentage, as he posted efficient averages of .437 overall and .525 in league play. Blair recorded just nine attack errors in eight MCVL matches while totaling 61 kills, good for an average of 2.26 kills per set.
Wittenberg players have now captured MCVL Rookie of the Year honors following three straight seasons. Halverson picked up the award in 2023 and Reese Monnin (Xenia, OH / Carroll) was the selection in 2024.
Yurk leads the Tigers in kills for a second straight year. He concluded the regular season with 304 kills, which ranks fourth in the MCVL. He has hit .349 in 2025 while adding 135 digs and 28 blocks to his stat line. Already the school record-holder for kills in a season, Yurk is just two kills away from breaking the program record for career kills.
A first-team All-MCVL selection in 2023 and a second-team All-MCVL honoree in 2024, Halverson has put together another tremendous all-around season in 2025. He has hit .281 on the season and ranks second on the team in kills with 235 to go along with 129 digs, 24 blocks, and a team-leading 27 aces.
Wittenberg closed the regular season with a 20-10 overall record after five consecutive victories over the last two weeks to finish second in the MCVL standings. The Tigers are the second seed in the four-team MCVL Tournament, which will take place Friday, April 11, and Saturday, April 12, at Mount Union. The Tigers will face second-seeded Baldwin Wallace in the first of Friday's semifinal games at 4 p.m., followed by the matchup between fourth-seeded Trine and first-seeded Mount Union at 7 p.m. The winners of those matches will face off in the tournament championship on Saturday at 3 p.m.
