Tigers Picked To Finish Second In MCVL Preseason Poll
Springfield, Ohio - Coming off a 2023 season highlighted by an unexpected run to the regular season championship in the Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League (MCVL), the Wittenberg men's volleyball team was picked to finish second in the 2024 title chase in the preseason poll.
Baldwin Wallace, which won the 2023 MCVL Tournament, was picked to finish first in the poll, which is based on ballots submitted by the league's coaches. The Yellow Jackets received seven first-place votes and accumulated 78 total points in the balloting. Mount Union and Wittenberg each received one first-place vote and totaled 66 total points to tie for second place, followed by Trine with one first-place vote and 58 votes.
Led by 2023 MCVL Coach of the Year Nathan Matthews, the Tigers head into the new season with plenty of momentum. Wittenberg returns a pair of first-team all-league selections in outside hitters Tom Supan (Medina, Ohio/Medina) and Eli Halverson (Hamilton, Ohio/Badin) to lead a stocked roster.
