Men Finish First, Women Third at Wooster Fighting Scots Invitational

WOOSTER, Ohio—For the second straight meet, the Wittenberg Tigers have shown extremely well on both the men's and women's side across the board. On the women's side, the Tigers were lead by Alaina Longshore and Tyra Barnes as the team finished in third, while the men's program claimed a first place finish at the meet behind seven first place finishes. Wittenberg scored 90 points on the women's side behind Denison and Oberlin, as the men scored 186 to win the meet ahead of Denison, Wooster, Oberlin and Kenyon.

MEN'S TOP 6'S

• Tyler Branton started off the Tigers day in the 60-meter dash with a first place finish at 7.21 seconds.  
• Cody Shutt also earned first place honors in the 400-meter dash at 51.90 seconds.
• Tyler Gittins came in first in the 60 meter hurdles for Wittenberg, as the junior recorded a finals heat of 8.83 seconds.
• Branton, the reigning NCAC athlete of the week, Marcus O'Neal, Matt Entsminger and Andrew Boeres continued the hot start for the Tigers with a first place finish in the 4x200 at 1:31.82.
• In the 4x400 meter, the team of Gittins, Ryan Hale, Boeres and Shutt claimed first place with a finals heat of 3:31.41.
• Jardyan Mitchem led the Tigers in field events, finishing first in the pole vault, clearing 4.25 meters.
• Branton continued to impress, finishing in first in the long jump at 6.14 meters.
• D'Anthony Dorsey claimed first place in the shot-put in the finals with a throw of 13.42 meters.
• Brandon Johnson earned second place honors in the 60-meter dash with a finals run of 7.24 seconds.
• Marcus O'Neal finished second in the 200-meter dash at 23.67 seconds, and second in the 60 meter hurdles at 8.86 seconds.
• Tay Morton also finished in second place for the Tigers, this time in the high jump after clearing 1.83 meters.
• Matt Entsminger rounded out the 60-meter dash for the Tigers in third place at 7.31 seconds, as well as third place in the 200-meter dash at 23.88 seconds.
• Gittins continued his day with a third place finish in the 400-meter dash at 52.34 seconds.
• Kenneth Mayes finished third for the Tigers in the 800 meter run, finishing the finals heat at 2:01.78.
• Boeres scored again for the Tigers in the 60 meter hurdles at 8.89 seconds, good enough for third place.
• The 4x400 meter relay team of Alexander Sheppard, Aaron Rutherford, Jalen Fultz and Kyle Farnbauch finished third for the Tigers at 3:37.46.
• In the high jump, Wittenberg was lead by David Campbell who finished in third, clearing 1.83 meters.
• Keaton Snow continued the Tigers streak of third place finishes, this time in the pole vault after clearing 3.95 meters.
• In the long jump, Campbell scored again for Wittenberg, as his finals distance of 5.90 meters was good enough for third place.
• Farnbauch scored in fourth for the Tigers in the 60 meter hurdles with a finals time of 8.97 seconds.
• Alex Owens finished fourth in the pole vault for Wittenberg, clearing 3.95 meters in the finals.
• Thomas Pyle earned fourth place in the long jump, soaring 5.72 meters.
• In the shot put, Jonathan Seay finished in fourth place with a heave of 12.32 meters.
• Rounding out his impressive day, Dorsey finished fourth place in the weight throw with 13.79 meters.
• In the 200-meter dash, the Tigers saw O'Neal finish in fifth place at 24.07 seconds.
• Hale rounded out his day in the 400 meter-dash with a fifth place finish, with a finals head of 52.90 seconds.
• Jersson Pachar scored in the 1 mile run for the Tigers with a mile time of 4:42.66, good enough for fifth place.

• Alaina Longshore got the scoring started for the Tigers, as the senior finished first in the 400 meter-dash at 1:01.81.
• The 4x200 meter relay team of Longshore, Tiarra Avant, Courtney Huck and Tyra Barnes finished in first place at 1:46.96.
• Huck also finished in second place in the women's 60-meter dash, as the senior volleyball standout recorded a finals time of 8.39 seconds.
• Barnes added a second place finish to her day in the 200-meter dash, as the freshman finished the finals in 27.33 seconds, as well as a second place finish in the 400-meter dash at 1:02.47.
• In the 3000 meter run, the Tigers were lead by Erin Hord who finished in second at 11:26.11.
• Olivia Stevens scored a second place finish for the Tigers in the 60 meter hurdles with a finals time of 10.11 seconds.
• In the pole vault, Gabrielle Draginoff finished in second place after clearing 3.20 meters for the red and white.
• The 4x400 meter relay team of Avant, Stevens, Staci Harmon, and Katie Vorpe earned third place recognition after finishing the finals heat with a time of 4:29.81.
• Adding to her day, Longshore also finished in fourth in the 200-meter dash after running 27.88 in the finals.
• Katelyn McCohn also earned a fourth place finish for the Tigers, this time in the pole vault after clearing 2.60 meters.
• Avant earned a fifth place finish in the 60-meter dash at 8.53 seconds.  
• Scoring again for Wittenberg was McCohn, who finished the 400-meter dash in 1:03.29.
• Hannah Meier got in on the scoring for Wittenberg in the 3000 meter run, finishing the event at 11:50.05.
• Capping off her day, McCohn claimed a sixth place finish in the 200-meter dash at 28.58 seconds.
• Rounding out the Tigers day was Huck, who finished sixth in the long jump after leaping 4.22 meters.
