Tiger Tennis Players, Women's Team Earn ITA All-Academic Honors
SPRINGFIELD, OH – Wittenberg’s men’s and women’s tennis teams garnered both individual and team academic awards from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s (ITA), the organization announced on Wednesday, July 23. Wittenberg Women's Tennis was named an All-Academic Team, while four individual men's players and two individual women's players were also named as ITA Scholar-Athletes.
A total of 1,115 NCAA Division III men's student-athletes and 1,269 women's student-athletes were named ITA Scholar-Athletes following the 2024-25 season. A total of 135 men’s tennis programs and 165 women's tennis programs were awarded All-Academic Team distinction.
To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must meet the following requirements: have a team grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.00 scale), be listed on the institutional eligibility form, and all varsity letterwinners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year. To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, players must meet the following requirements: have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year and be listed on the institutional eligibility form. Representing Wittenberg Men's Tennis as ITA Scholar-Athletes for 2024-25 were Benjamin Glassman (Woodbridge, CT / Amity Regional), Justin Hardie (Centerville, OH / Centerville), Ethan Libby (Loveland, OH / Loveland), and Daniel Patel (Pittsburgh, PA / Shaler Area), as well as Caroline Sproule (Lewis Center, OH / Olentangy Orange) and Marin Summers (Columbus, OH / Hilliard Davison) for the women.
Originally founded in 1956, the ITA is the governing body of college tennis, overseeing men’s and women’s varsity tennis at all levels – NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA and Junior/Community College.
