Men's Swimming and Diving Falls in Double Dual Meet
WILMINGTON, OH - In a double dual meet on Saturday, Nov. 1, at Wilmington, Wittenberg's men's swimming and diving team took on both the Wilmington Quakers and Transylvania Pioneers. Over the course of 14 events, the Tigers fell short to both teams by scores of 155-74 against Wilmington and 186-53 against Transylvania. The best finish for an individual or a relay team representing Wittenberg was third place, which happened six times during the meet.
The Tigers' first third-place finish of the day came from the 400-meter medley relay team of Owen Gabel (New Bremen, OH / New Bremen), Mason Steen (Leroy, OH / Riverside), Tatum Paglia (Indianapolis, IN / Ben Davis) and Nathan Rabun (Marion, OH / Wynford) in a time of 4:35.22. Steen took third in the 100-meter breaststroke with a time of 1:12.62. Then, in the 50-meter freestyle, Orry Farrington (Waterville, OH / Anthony Wayne) took third in 27.59. Gabel tacked on another third-place finish in the 200-meter backstroke with a time of 2:28.12, and Paglia did the same in the 200-meter IM with a time of 2:38.68.
The final third-place finish of the day was turned in by the 400-meter freestyle relay team of Gabel, Steen, Paglia and Rabun in a time of 4:02.57.
The Tigers will next compete in another double dual meet at Bluffton, taking on the host Beavers and Anderson at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8.
