CINCINNATI, OH – It's two in a row to open the 2025 season for Wittenberg's men's soccer team.
The Tigers scored three goals in the first half and added another in the second to take down Mount St. Joseph on the road at Schueler Field in Cincinnati, Ohio, 4-0, on Sunday, Aug. 31.
Spreading out the scoring, four different Tigers found the back of the net in the win, including freshman Joseph Yost (Ramstein, Germany / Ramstein American, Germany) on an assist by senior Ryan Shindeldecker (Findlay, OH / Findlay) early in the match at the 1:57 mark. Then sophomore Brendon Raggiunti (Brampton, Ontario / Notre Dame Catholic Secondary) hit the second off an assist by sophomore Asher Donahue (Muncie, IN / Burris Laboratory School) 32 minutes into the game. Less than eight minutes later, senior Christopher Meyer (Toledo, OH / St. Francis) put a third point on the board off an assist again by Donahue.
Witt's final goal came late in the second half at the 86:07 mark off the foot of junior Brendan Goodman (Beavercreek, OH / Beavercreek) with an assist by senior Leroy Dannemiller (Columbus, OH / The Wellington School).
With the win, the Tigers improve to 2-0. Mount Saint Joseph falls to 0-1-1. It was the second year in a row in which Wittenberg defeated the Lions. Last year, the Tigers won 5-1.
Team Leaders
- Goalkeepers Aidan Rice (Dublin, OH / Saint Charles) and Peter Adams (Columbus, OH / Hilliard Darby) shared time in the goal, with Rice getting two saves and Adams registering another.
- Yost led the team in shots with five total, three on goal; Meyer had four, two on goal.
Team Comparison
- Wittenberg had 30 shots, 15 in each half, and 12 shots on goal. The Tigers also had four saves, seven corner kicks, and seven fouls.
- Mount St. Joseph had five total shots and four on goal. The Lions tallied eight saves, two corner kicks, and 10 fouls.
