Tigers Earn NSCAA Team Academic Award

In recognition of outstanding classroom performance during the 2013-14 school year, Wittenberg was recognized by the NSCAA with a Team Academic Award.

Springfield, Ohio – The Wittenberg University men's soccer team has been recognized for its outstanding collective work in the classroom with a 2014 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Team Academic Award. 

The Tigers posted a 3.07 team grade point average (GPA) during the 2013-14 school year. The NSCAA program honors men's and women's soccer teams that display excellence in the classroom by maintaining at least a 3.0 cumulative team GPA on a 4.0 scale.

"I am very pleased with the efforts of our young men both in the classroom and on the field," said Tigers' Head Coach Steve Dawson, who has 297 career victories since taking the reins at Wittenberg in 1983. "There are challenges in balancing the considerable demands of college athletics with the class work at Wittenberg. I am proud of the way that our student-athletes consistently step up to the challenge." 

The Tigers posted records of 7-10-1 overall and 2-7-0 in the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) in the recently completed 2014 season.
