PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The Wittenberg Tigers dropped their final non-conference game of the 2013 season after Point Park broke open a close game with four goals in the final 27 minutes to secure a 5-0 victory.
The loss dropped Wittenberg to 4-7-1 overall heading into the season's stretch run. The Tigers, who are 0-3-1 in the last four games, close the 2013 campaign with seven straight North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) contests after starting the league slate with a tie and loss.
Point Park jumped in front just 4:25 into the game, but the two teams went into the locker room at halftime with just a one-goal difference. Eighteen minutes into the second half, Point Park put a second goal on the board, the first of four second-half tallies to break the game open.
Point Park held a 23-9 advantage in shots, forcing Wittenberg junior goalkeeper Jeff Mengerink (Delaware, Ohio/Hayes) into 10 saves in his first starting assignment of the 2013 season.
Offensively, the Tigers were paced by senior Kevin Bond (Bexley, Ohio/Bexley) with four shots, including three on target.
