Tigers Fall On Road At Wooster
WOOSTER, Ohio — The Wittenberg Tigers dropped a 2-0 decision to the College of Wooster Saturday, and in the process the Tigers moved squarely onto the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament bubble. The loss moved Wittenberg to 4-6-2 overall and, more importantly 0-2-1 in the NCAC, while Wooster improved to a sparkling 8-1-1 overall and 2-0-1 in the conference.

WOOSTER, Ohio - The Wittenberg Tigers dropped a 2-0 decision to the College of Wooster Saturday, and in the process the Tigers moved squarely onto the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament bubble.
The loss moved Wittenberg to 4-6-2 overall and, more importantly 0-2-1 in the NCAC, while Wooster improved to a sparkling 8-1-1 overall and 2-0-1 in the conference. The Tigers, who reached their first NCAC Tournament in six tries a year ago, now likely must win at least four of their last six games, starting with a Tuesday game at Kenyon, to take an encore in 2006.
Interestingly, Saturday's game was very evenly played - at least from a statistical standpoint. But playing a man down for most of the game after sophomore defender Justin Jenkins (Dublin, Ohio/Coffman) was red-carded 31 minutes into the game, the Tigers couldn't finish an offensive rush. Wooster outshot Wittenberg 12-10, but the difference was in goalkeeper saves. Wittenberg managed three for the game while allowing two goals while Wooster had four.
Offensively, sophomore Matt Borland (Kettering, Ohio/Alter) was credited with a game-high five shots. The two teams played a scoreless first half before Wooster tallied once in the 57th minute and put the game away with a tally inside the final two minutes of the game.
