Tiger Lacrosse Wins Final Home Game of 2016 Over Wabash, 15-6
Wittenberg dropped Wabash in the final NCAC match of 2016 as this year's seniors played their final game in Springfield.
SPRINGFIELD, Ohio—Wittenberg sent the class of 2016 off in style Tuesday night, as the Tigers defeated the Little Giants of Wabash under the lights of Edwards-Maurer Field, 15-6. The all-time points leader in Wittenberg Lacrosse history, Andrew Fuss (Gahanna, Ohio/Lincoln) added seven more points to his name, as the senior amassed two goals, and five assists on Tuesday night. The Tigers managed to jump out to a 12-3 lead before halftime, which proved to be enough as the Tigers were able to play stout defense against Wabash all night. Wittenberg will end their 2016 regular season at DePauw, taking on Aurora College in a neutral-site matchup.
GAME BREAKDOWN
- The Tigers jumped out to a quick 6-2 lead in the first quarter after Fuss found Sean Kelleher (Lake Forest, Illinois/Lake Forest) for a Tiger goal with 13 seconds remaining in the quarter.
- The second quarter was all Wittenberg, as the home team managed to produce six unanswered goals in a nine-minute span.
- Zach Shy (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) collected two goals on the six goal run, as the junior collected three total goals on the day.
