Tigers Top Kenyon to Move Into First-Place Tie
GAMBIER, OH - Wittenberg Men's Basketball traveled to North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) rival Kenyon for a late-night game that didn't tip off until well after the advertised time of 8 p.m. The delay didn't slow down the Tigers, however, as Wittenberg jumped on top early and pulled away for a 79-67 victory over the Owls.
The win, Wittenberg's fifth in the last six games, moved the Tigers to 16-6 overall, and, more importantly, into a three-way tie for first place in the NCAC standings with John Carroll and Denison at 9-4. Wittenberg has now won 17 of the last 18 games in the all-time series against Kenyon, including both meetings in the 2025-26 season. The Owls dropped to 10-13 overall and 4-10 in the NCAC.
Eddie Brown (Lewis Center, OH / Olentangy Orange) started the scoring for the Tigers, hitting a three to start the game, and he closed out the first half with a three as well as he totaled 12 points, going 4-for-4 from beyond the arc. Noah Frayer (Odenton, MD / SPIRE Academy) was also on fire throughout the half, dropping 15 points to lead the team as he went 6-for-8 from the field and 3-for-4 from deep. Through the first 10 minutes of play, the score was back-and-forth between the teams and with eight minutes remaining, the Tigers extended their lead to nine, 28-19. Brown was also a force on the glass at half, leading both team in recbounds with four and Spence Davidson (Lebanon, OH / Lebanon) found a few open teammates with three assists and had seven points off the bench. By the end of the half, the Tigers held a commanding lead, 42-32.
The Tigers continued to score in the second half, increasing their lead to 18, 71-53, with just under eight minutes remaining, but the Owls didn't go down easily, as they clawed their way back within 10 points with two minutes to go. After cutting it to 10, Tyler Galluch (Springfield, OH / Central Catholic) made four straight free throws to put the game out of reach.
Team Leaders
- Frayer led the Tigers with 22 points and Davidson scored 13 off the bench, while Brown finished with 12, all of which came in the first half.
- Brown was tied for the team lead in rebounds with Dawson Scott (New Castle, IN / New Castle) and Cal Bavineau (Dexter, MI / Dexter) with six each, all six for Scott coming on the offensive glass.
- Davidson led the team in assists with four, while Brown and Galluch each logged two.

- The Tigers shot 26-60 (43.3%) from the field, 13-27 (48.1%) from three and 14-20 (70%) from the line. Wittenberg also grabbed 42 rebounds, dished out 12 assists, and scored 29 bench points and 13 second points en route to their win.
- The Owls shot 20-52 (38.5%) overall, 6-25 (24%) from deep and 21-29 (72.4%) from the charity stripe. Kenyon was only able to pull down28 rebounds and logged 10 assists along with 16 bench points and eight second chance points while having 28 points in the paint.
