Witt Hoops Ranks Second In Attendance Average For NCAA DIII
Springfield, Ohio —The Wittenberg University men's basketball team ranked among the nation's leaders in NCAA Division III, packing Pam Evans Smith Arena on a regular basis to rank second in attendance.
The Tigers went 17-1 this season on their home floor from Pam Evans Smith Arena. Since taking the reins ahead of the 2016 season, Croci's Tigers have amassed a home record of 52-8, keeping pace with the stellar home winning percentage of the Wittenberg Tiger men's basketball program set at .861.
The Tigers hosted both the North Coast Athletic Conference and NCAA Division III first round for the second time in three years. A milestone year for Tiger basketball, on Saturday January, 25 Wittenberg defeated Oberlin 63-51, capturing the program's 1,800th win. Wittenberg made their 30th NCAA Division III Tournament appearance, hosting the first weekend from Pam Evans Smith Arena, taking down La Rocha on Friday night (3/6) 83-66. The Tigers would advance to the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2012 after defeating Susquehanna on Saturday (3/7) 77-73.
Wittenberg averaged 1,392 fans during their 18 games hosted from Pam Evans Smith Arena. Hope led the nation averaging 2,214 fans per game. Fellow NCAC school Wooster followed close behind at 1,260 in 16 home games. Wabash finished just inside the top 20, averaging 749 per trip to Crawfordsville, making for a ruckus stretch of conference games.
