Tigers Drop NCAC Decision to Allegheny
Wittenberg fell 74-64 at home Saturday afternoon.

SPRINGFIELD, OH-- The Tigers fell to 2-1 in NCAC play Saturday afternoon after a 64-54 loss to the Allegheny Gators. Despite taking a 27-25 lead into halftime, the Tigers found themselves playing from behind for most of the second-half.
Jaelin Williams (Springfield, Ohio/Shawnee) and Alex Fultz (Cincinnati, Ohio/Glen Este) each tallied 11 points to lead all Tiger scorers.
The loss puts the Tigers at 5-2 overall and 2-1 in 2015 NCAC play.
GAME BREAKDOWN
- Allegheny opened the scoring on Saturday afternoon, but it was Wittenberg that got off to a 9-0 scoring run to start the game. The run ended at the 14:15 mark when the Gators ended their scoring drought with a layup.
- The Tigers lead at the break 27-25 after outrebounding the Gators 21-13 in the half.
- Wittenberg took a 36-35 lead with 15:20 left in regulation on a Cody Phillippi (Xenia, Ohio/Xenia) hustle play that resulted in a steal and a beautiful touch pass to Shane Edwards (Perrsyburg, Ohio/Perrsyburg) for a fast-break dunk.
- The Tigers clawed back late in the second half, but the Gators hung on to claim the victory.

- The Tigers were outscored in the paint for the first time this season, 24-20.
- Wittenberg's offense shot 35-percent from the floor and 24-percent from beyond the three-point line.
