GRANVILLE, OH – Wittenberg's field hockey team opened North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) play against Denison on Wednesday, Sept. 10, at Deeds-Field-Piper Stadium.
The Tigers went up against a tough Denison defense and couldn't find the back of the cage, falling 5-0 to the Big Red. Denison scored one in the first, one in the second, two in the third, and one more in the fourth while holding Witt scoreless to secure the shutout. The Big Red maintained possession of the ball for most of the match and racked up 31 shots on the night.
With the loss, the Tigers drop to 0-3 for the season and 0-1 in the NCAC, while Denison picks up its first win of the season to improve to 1-3 overall and 1-0 in the conference.
Taryn Toburen (Lititz, PA / Warwick) led all goalkeepers in saves with 14.
