GREENCASTLE, Ind. - Through the first 40 minutes against Centre, the Wittenberg Tigers found themselves facing a 3-0 deficit. It proved to be too deep a hole to climb out from, as the Tigers eventually found themselves on the short end of a 3-1 final score.
The loss, in a game played at DePauw, dropped Wittenberg to 1-2 on the season. Centre improved to 2-1.
Centre scored goals in the ninth minute, the 35th minute and the 41st minute to build a 3-0 lead. The Tigers responded with a goal off a penalty corner from senior Casey Fry (Chelsea, Mich./Chelsea) off a feed from sophomore Michelle Murray (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) in the 56th minute.
Wittenberg was outshot by a narrow 13-9 margin in the game, but the Tigers did hold a 9-6 edge in penalty corner opportunities. In goal, sophomore Sarah Brownell (Oconomowoc, Wis./University Lake School) came up with nine saves.
