#17 Wittenberg Moves to 4-0 After 41-13 Win Over Wooster

WOOSTER, Ohio—#17 Wittenberg didn't score until the end of the first quarter against Wooster, but once the flood gates were open, there was no closing them on Saturday afternoon. The Tigers dominated play on both sides of the ball against their familiar rival, and the Wittenberg defense did what all Tigers fans have grown accustomed to seeing in 2016: stopping the run. Wittenberg's defense kept the Fighting Scots to just 65 yards on the ground in the lopsided victory. Wittenberg saw production from a plethora of offensive players, but for the second straight game, sophomore gunslinger Jake Kennedy aired things out for three touchdown passes. The signal caller was on the same page with senior wide-out Luke Landis for the second straight game, as the tandem hooked up for 127 yards receiving and one touchdown. With the win, the Tigers move to 4-0 in 2016 and 3-0 in NCAC play. 

OFFENSIVE NOTES

• At halftime of Saturdays game Wittenberg led 31-0, which capped off an offensive run of 51-0 for the red and white against Wooster and Wabash.  
• Kennedy has remained cool and collected in the pocket as of late, as the sophomore nearly surpassed the 300 passing yard mark on Saturday after completing 70% of his passes.
• Freshman running back Jaheem Washington has seen his workload increase for the Tigers, as the Floridian has barreled his way through would-be tacklers in his limited opportunities, scoring one touchdown in the game.
• Nick Kendall totaled 97 yards on the ground for the Tigers, averaging nearly six yards a carry in the NCAC game.
• Landis hauled in his fourth touchdown of the season for the Tigers, as the senior wide-out passed the 300-yard receiving mark on the season on his sixth catch of the game.

DEFENSIVE NOTES

• Jack Kayser led the way for the Tigers on Saturday, picking up ten tackles for a defensive unit that has earned NCAC Defensive Player of the Week Honors in back-to-back weeks.
• Two award winners, Terrance Crowe and Dustin Holmes, combined for 13 tackles on Saturday, as Holmes picked of a Wooster pass in the second quarter, his first of the season.
• After the victory, Wittenberg's defense is allowing 291.5 yards a game, while holding opponents to a measly 72.5 yards on the ground.

SPECIAL TEAMS

• Will Gingery nailed his second 50 yard field goal of 2016, as the Fred Mitchell Award Watchlist member added two more field-goals to his body of work, as well as a perfect five-for-five mark in extra-points.
