Wittenberg Baseball Boasts Eight Tigers with All-NCAC Honors
Cleveland, OH - The North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) announced the 2025 All-NCAC baseball teams today. Eight Tigers were selected over the three teams – six first-team and two more received second-team honors.
Among the Tigers selected for first-team honors were Parker Gryskevich (Brownsburg, IN / Brownsburg), Luke Thomas (Tallmadge, OH / Tallmadge), Alex Nemunaitis (Perrysburg, OH / Ottawa Hills), Rocco Royer (Lake Bluff, IL / Lake Forest), Tommy Chilicki (Lewis Center, OH / Olentangy) and Charlie Schafer (Beavercreek, OH / Beavercreek). The two Tigers named to the second team were Xander Rodgriguez (Salinas, PR / Franklin County) and Thatcher Dietz (Westerville, OH / Westerville South).
The Tigers logged another successful season this year as they finished the season 29-12 and went 11-4 in conference play to take third place in the NCAC. During the seaon, they had two separate win streaks of six and seven games to help put them in that position by the end of the season.
In the NCAC Tournament, the Tigers defeated Wabash in their first game before falling to number one seed Denison on day two and coming up just short in a one-run loss to Wooster in the game to decide who would play in the championship. By the end of the season, the Tigers took the top spot in the conference in batting average, runs, doubles and home runs, exhibiting their powerful offense.
Throughout the regular season, Gryskevich recorded 48 hits and 35 RBI with a .365 batting average. Thomas batted .329 while logging 49 hits and 32 RBI. Nemunaitis put together an outstanding season with 50 hits and 33 RBI while batting .351. Royer led the Tiger all-conference players in home runs and RBI with 13 and 46, respectively, while having a batting average of .318 and 47 hits. Chilicki recorded 58 hits in the season with 32 RBI and a .379 batting average, while also recording a 1-1 record on the mound with an ERA of 5.87. Schafer also put together a successful season, collecting a 6-1 record on the mound while recording five saves and finished with an ERA of only 2.61. Rodriguez had a great sophomore season with 54 hits and 39 RBI while batting .372. Dietz also had a good sophomore season of his own, batting .343 while recordng 44 hits and 31 RBI.
