COLUMUMBUS, Ohio—Wittenberg took advantage of their final non-conference game before opening up NCAC play over the weekend. The Tigers came out strong, scoring seven runs in the first two innings against OAC foe Capital, as the red and white didn't look back, dropping the Crusaders 9-6.
SCORING BREAKDOWN
Top 1st
- Timmy Bates walked and recorded an RBI as the Tiger's had the bases loaded, as Matt Baker scored on the play.
- With the bags still full of Tigers, Dalton Boucher lined a single the opposite way, scoring Jace Barga and Josh Kaplan.
Top 2nd
- Sophomore utility man Brad Malott grounded out to open up the scoring in the top of the second, plating Ryan Probst.
- Kaplan followed up with a base-hit to center field, scoring Baker on the play.
- Bates capped off the 7-0 lead with a double down the right-field line, scoring Kaplan.
Top 4th
- Bates was not done at the plate just yet for the Tigers, as the junior laced his second hit of the game to center field, scoring Kaplan.
Top 9th
- The Tigers tacked on one more run in the top of the ninth, as Bates reached on a fielder's choice, scoring Malott.
